چکیده

The first unambiguous measurements of a bounce-resonance effect in a non-neutral plasma are presented. Two striking signatures are observed when a magnetized electron column is heated by oscillating an end sheath. First, the heating rate increases by a factor of 104 as the oscillation frequency is increased by a factor of 10 near the thermal electron bounce frequency. Second, the heating is enhanced when the sheaths at both ends are oscillated out of phase, but is suppressed when they are in phase. The measured rates are in quantitative agreement with a resonant particle heating theory. [S0031-9007(98)06580-6]

بررسی گرمایش الکترونی در برهم‌کنش‌های لیزر - پلاسما

In this paper, stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) and electron heating in laser plasma propagating along the plasma fusion is investigated by particle-in cell simulation. Applying an external magnetic field to plasma, production of whistler waves and electron heating associated with whistler waves in the direction perpendicular to external magnetic field was observed in this simulation. The pla...

Anomalous ion heating from ambipolar-constrained magnetic fluctuation-induced transport

A kinetic theory for the anomalous heating of ions from energy stored in magnetic turbulence is presented. Imposing self-consistency through the constitutive relations between particle distributions and fields, a turbulent Kirchhoff’s Law is derived that expresses a direct connection between rates of ion heating and electron thermal transport. This connection arises from the kinematics of elect...

An Optimal Selection of Induction Heating Capacitance by Genetic Algorithm Considering Dissipation Loss Caused by ESR (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In design of a parallel resonant induction heating system, choosing a proper capacitancefor the resonant circuit is quite important. The capacitance affects the resonant frequency, outputpower, Q-factor, heating efficiency and power factor. In this paper, the role of equivalent seriesresistance (ESR) in the choice of capacitance is significantly recognized. Optimal value of resonancecapacitor i...

Abnormal heating of low-energy electrons in low-pressure capacitively coupled discharges.

In low-pressure capacitively coupled plasmas, high-energy electrons are collisionlessly heated by large rf fields in the sheaths while low-energy electrons are confined in the bulk plasma by the ambipolar potential. Low-energy electrons are typically inefficiently heated due to their low collisionality and the weak rf electric field present in the bulk. It is shown, however, that as a result of...

Electron presheaths: the outsized influence of positive boundaries on plasmas

Electron sheaths form near the surface of objects biased more positive than the plasma potential, such as a Langmuir probe collecting electron saturation current. Generally, the formation of electron sheaths requires that the electron-collecting area be sufficiently smaller ( m M 2.3 e times) than the ion-collecting area. They are commonly thought to be local phenomena that collect the random t...
